Business Forum

The Parish Council acknowledges that despite being a rural parish, we do have active businesses within our boundaries, from small cottage industries through to major farming concerns.  We currently do not run a Winsham specific Business Forum, although we will consider any request (see our Contact page). Instead, the Council supports the existing local forum in the local town of Chard.  See below for further information:

Boost Networking - free, informal relaxed networking at the Yeovil Innovation Centre

Join us from 9-10 the first Wednesday of every month to meet other members of the local business community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere: Make useful contacts, bounce ideas around or just socialise. Everyone welcome - please book your free place here.

Our guest speaker on the 6th September is Thinkography's Danny Gosling who will talk about how to build a successful brand, and use it to drive the success of your marketing, build emotional engagement with your customers, and grow your profits.

In October we are joined by Tina Paul from Serco who has the inside track on government funding available to SMEs for training and qualifications. And if you are thinking of taking on any new staff or expanding your business we also have Claire Hyde and the Quay HR team talking about just that in November.

Email for more information or book online and join us at the Innovation Centre for a fresh approach to networking.

European Structural and Investment Funds

As one of the biggest LEPs in the UK and one with a very large rural economy, the Heart of the South West area has the largest allocation of European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) monies through Government's Growth Programme.

Funds are still available and could offer a real boost to many businesses and the local economy. The LEP is urging more rural businesses to consider applying for these grants, which can be used for capital projects related to tourism, food, manufacturing and business development. Further details of EAFRD funding opportunities through the Growth Programme are available

In addition to the EAFRD calls for applications, there are currently four "live" calls for the European Regional Development Fund. Two new calls were announced at the end of June for Innovation and for SME support. And two ERDF calls published in January remain open; for enterprise and incubation space and for activity to support the shift to a low carbon economy. Visit the website for more information about these calls, and details on how the LEP aims for thesemonies to benefit the area.

Do you know a local food or drink producer that would like to attend a free market?

SSDC will be hosting a local producer market on the fourth Saturday of each month from February until November 2017. Contact 01935 462173 if you would like to book a stand. #FoodisGREAT
